It is a task of significance as to the investigation and research of the dis- tribution of the blood groups.A large amount of data for the distribution of the ABO blood groups of the various nationalities of our country has been amassed

and these data are chiefly concerned with the distribution of the blood groups of our inland nationalities

Xinjiang is a multinational region

but there are not sufficient data for the distribution of the blood groups of the various nationali- ties of this region.Up to now we have not received any reports as regards the distribution of the ABO blood groups of the Tajiks who mainly inhabit the Tash- kuergan Autonomous County.For this reason

we carried on investigations con- cerning the distribution of the ABO blood groups of the Tajik nationality in Tashkuergan from the second ten days of May to the first ten days of June in 1983.The standard serum was supplied by the Urumgi Blood Transfusion Sta- tion.The blood groups were identified by means of the slide glass method with a total of 365 cases. The results of our investigations have shown that the distribution of the ABO blood types of the Tajik nationalities goes as follows:Blood group O predomi- nates

amounting to 127 cases and accounting for 34.79% of the total.Blood group A comes next

with 125 cases and 34.25% of the total.Blood group B co- mes third

with 73 cases and 20% of the total.The lowest is blood group AB which only amounts to 40 cases and accounts for 10.96% of the total. From the results of our investigations we can see clearly that the distribu- tion of the ABO blood groups of the Tajik nationality is basically in conformity with the thesis that blood group O predominates in the region of Xinjiang

it was put forward by the Inspection Section of the People's Hospital of the Xin- jiang Autonomous Region in the light of the statistical analysis of the ABO blood groups of 9624 persons.And this fact comes near to the East China type put forward by Mr.Shang Shusong.According to the special feature that the index of the Tajik nationality is 1.46

the ABO blood groups of the Tajiks should come into the category of Hischfeld's intermediate type.
