the method and the apparatus for the experiment on the phase- change-point lowering between decahydrate and anhydrous sodium sulfates are briefly described in this paper. In the experiment
sodium hydroxides were put into the water glass solutins to provent water glass from hydrolysis. Then the average degrees of polymerization of silicate ions in the water glass with different modules have been determined by extrapolating the NaOH concentration to zero so as to eliminate the influence of NaoH on the degrees of polymeriz- ation. The data obtained are compared with those obtained from the light- scattering and the silicomolybdic acid reaction. The important factors which affect the experimental accuracy have also been discussed.
