In this paper the upper and lower solutions for the characteristic problem of third order quasilinear totally hyperbolic equations are defind by the differential inquality theorem. We use this definition to construct two monotone sequence of upper and lower solutions which converge to a solution for the characteristic problem from above and from below respectively. This provides a feasible way finding an approximate solution.
