The respiration rate and ethylene production of Kuerle Sweet Pear (Pyrusbretschneideri Rehd) was studied under different temperatures during storage.Theresults showed that there was a remarkable difference in respiration rate and ethy-lene production of sweet pear under different temperatures.The occurence of resp-iration climacteric was dependent upon the increase of ethylene production.Theerspiration of sweet pear was inhibited effectively by the low temperature

and-the time of climacteric was thus defered

and the storage life of the fruit wastherefore prolonged.
