According to some materials from the Geology Section we know that aggregates used in the buildings in Urumqi region consist of higher alkali activity minerals

which are harmful to durability of concrete. According to the implementation of Western developing strategy

our government has cast great investment on economic construction of the capital (Urumqi) and paid more attention to low concrete durability from the alkali-activity. So it is important to research and take some measures to this problem of concrete durability. In this paper

by researching Alkali-activity of aggregates and their reaction in concrete

the problem of the concrete durability has been improved.
